Lugar que poucos conhecem em Boston, a Igreja da Ciência Cristã (The Church of Christ, Scientist) fundada por Mary Baker Eddy em 1879, mantém uma biblioteca com vários textos escritos por ela para divulgar sua filosofia e o sistema de cura espiritual. A autora queria celebrar a palavra de Cristo e restabelecer o cristianismo primitivo.
A igreja mãe foi construida em Boston em 1894. A construção é belíssima, em estilo romanesco, com granito e diversos vitrais. Hoje a igreja está espalhada pelo mundo, com centenas de praticantes. Além da igreja, há a biblioteca que pode ser visistada com hora marcada e o Mapparium, uma das atrações do local.
Mapparium é um globo tridimensional de vidro concebido por Chester Churchill, arquiteto que participava da igreja. Ele representa o mundo de 1935 e em sua apresentação falam sobre as mudanças que ocorreram ao longo do tempo, colonialismo e guerras que trouxeram mudanças geográficas importantes.
