Sugar Bowl Cafe (Dorchester - MA)

Após um dia em frente a um computador, limpando banco de dados e organizando artigos para  leituras resolvi voltar andando para casa. E nessa caminhada encontrei o Sugar Bowl, um café que foi mencionado em um texto sobre restaurantes/bares e cafés em Savin Hill e Dorchester. 

O lugar é bem interessante, frequentado por locais e com decoração inusitada. É uma mistura de  móveis, mármore, ferro, papel de parede, coisas antigas, que traz lembranças do final do século XIX e início do século XX. Gostei do ambiente e o melhor de tudo não estava cheio, como a maior parte dos cafés de Boston.

Um dos donos estava lá e quando entrei já veio me antender e puxou papo, se eu era frequentadora do local, o que estava fazendo por ali. Ele é um dos treze filhos de um casal irlandês que imigrou para os USA e que vivem na região, bem acolhedor. Foi um final de tarde gostoso, comi um ótimo sanduíche (Chicken Salad) e um sorvete e o preço foi bem acessível. Uma descoberta interessante.

After a day in front of a computer, cleaning up the database and organizing articles for readings I decided to walk back home. And on this walk, I found the Sugar Bowl, a cafe that was mentioned in a text about restaurants/bars and cafes in Savin Hill and Dorchester.

The place is very interesting, frequented by locals and with unusual decoration. It is a mixture of furniture, marble, iron, wallpaper, old things, which brings back memories of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. I liked the atmosphere and best of all it was not crowded, like most of the cafes in Boston.

One of the owners was there and when I came in, he came to me and chatted, if I was a visitor to the place, what I was doing there. He is one of thirteen children of an Irish couple who immigrated to the USA and who live in the region, he was very welcoming. It was a great late afternoon, I had a  sandwich (Chicken Salad) and an ice cream and the price was well affordable. An interesting discovery.
