Domingo, tempo feio, frio e com neve do dia anterior, ótimo para ficar em casa assistindo filminho na Netflix... mas, ao contrário, resolvi sair para conhecer um pouco mais de Boston. Gosto de andar sem um roteiro e descobrir lugares que a cidade oferece para aqueles que estão atentos ao espaço.
A cidade de Boston é muito bonita e tem uma grande importância na história americana, pois foi próximo daqui que os ingleses puritanos aportaram. No entanto, antes deles os Massachuset e os Wampanoag, povos nativos dos Estados Unidos, já viviam nessas terras e a chamavam Massachuset, que no idioma Algonquino significa "próximo a montanha", uma referência a Great Blue Hill localizada ao sul de Boston.
Não conheço muito a cidade, mas por onde passei até agora a história é contada na perspectiva dos ingleses que chegaram em Plimouth em 1620 com o navio MayFlower, e colonizaram essas terras, o que eles fizeram e construíram, as revoltas e a revolução americana que culminou na independência dos USA, em 1776 e reconhecida pela Inglaterra em 1783. Por isso o estado de Massachusetts é conhecido como "Spirit of America". A história dos indígenas que aqui viviam é pouco mencionada no percurso histórico da cidade. Todas as características da cidade (na parte mais antiga) nos remetem às cidades europeias, principalmente a Inglaterra do século XVIII. Nada menciona a contribuição dos indígenas na construção desse país.

The city of Boston is very beautiful and has a great importance in American history because it was on the coast of that state that the Puritan English arrived. However, before them the Massachuset and the Wampanoag, native peoples of the United States, already lived in these lands and called it Massachuset, which in the Algonquin language means "near the mountain", a reference to the Great Blue Hill located south of Boston.
I do not know much about the city, but where I have been today the story is told from the perspective of the English men who arrived in Plimouth in 1620 with the ship MayFlower, and colonized these lands. Everything is about what they did and built, the revolts and the American revolution that culminated in the independence of the USA in 1776 and recognized by England in 1783.
