Ano Novo Chinês/ Chinese New Year

O calendário chinês (o mais antigo do mundo) é diferente do nosso, pois se baseia nos movimentos da lua e do sol, por isso o ano novo chinês iniciou no dia 05 de fevereiro. Durante 15 dias o povo chinês, ao redor do mundo, celebra com danças, orações, comidas típicas e desfiles, o ano que se inicia.

Aqui em Boston, teve a parada com a dança dos leões nas ruas de Chinatown, foi divertido acompanhar as escolas e ver a dança na porta de cada restaurante. Os leões apresentam significado de exorcizar os espíritos maléficos e invocar a sorte e a felicidade, fortuna para os negócios. Cada gesto e material usado na dança e pelos donos do restaurante tem um simbolismo. Ver a laranja sendo atirada para a população, o alface e o envelope vermelho, sendo engolido pelo leão, a alegria estampada em cada criança que viam as figuras dançando, o cansaço no rosto dos figurantes e dos organizadores, que passam o dia fazendo isso, foi interessante.

Cada ano é regido por um animal diferente, constituindo o horóscopo chinês, esse será o ano do porco. Na cultura chinesa o porco simboliza saúde, entusiasmo e prosperidade. É o ano da comunicação e precisamos ter objetivos bem definidos senão toda essa animação se perde pelo caminho.

The Chinese calendar (the oldest in the world) is different from ours because it is based on the motions of the moon and the sun, so the Chinese New Year began on February 5th. For 15 days the Chinese people, around the world, celebrate with dances, prayers, typical foods and parades, the year that begins.

Here in Boston, you had the stop with the lion dance on the streets of Chinatown, it was fun to follow the schools and see the dance at each restaurant's door. Lions have the meaning of exorcising evil spirits and invoking luck and happiness, fortune for business. Every gesture and material used in the dance and by the owners of the restaurant has a symbolism. To see the orange being thrown to the population, the lettuce and the red envelope, being swallowed by the lion, the joy of every child who saw the figures dancing, the weariness on the faces of the extras and the organizers, who spend the day doing so, it was interesting.

Each year is ruled by a different animal, constituting the Chinese horoscope, this will be the year of the pig. In Chinese culture the pig symbolizes health, enthusiasm and prosperity. It is the year of communication and we must have well defined goals if not all this animation is lost along the way
