Quando viajo gosto de conhecer lugares diferentes. O High Line foi uma bela descoberta dentro dessa cidade imensa chamada New York. A proposta desse espaço público é bem interessante - ser um parque, jardim, exposição de arte e performances - em um espaço elevado no coração de Manhattan.
O parque está em uma antiga estrada de ferro da área industrial de Manhattan. Em meados de 1930 a estrada que estava no nível da rua foi elevada e por muitos anos foi usada por trens que carregavam alimentos até a Lower Manhattan, passando por entre os prédios.
Com o tempo a estrada foi desativada e uma parte dela demolida. No entanto, alguns moradores da região de Chelsea resolveram se mobilizar para manter a estrutura da estrada e a vegetação que ao longo dos anos foi crescendo entre os trilhos e ferros. Em 2006 uma parte dela foi aberta ao público como parque e desde então tem sido mantida por uma associação de amigos da High Line e pela cidade de New York.
São esses espaços criativos que mostram como cidades podem transformar e revitalizar áreas industriais, sem a necessidade de destruí-las. Esse passeio é uma forma diferente de ver e sentir New York, mesmo no inverno.

When I travel I like to know different places. The High Line was a beautiful discovery inside this huge city called New York. The proposal of this public space is very interesting - being a park, garden, art exhibition and performance area - in a high space in the heart of Manhattan.
The park is on an old freight train railroad in the industrial area of Manhattan. By the mid-1930s the road that was at street level was elevated and for many years was used by trains carrying food to Lower Manhattan, passing through the buildings.
Over time the road was disabled and a part of it demolished. However, some residents of the Chelsea area decided to mobilize to maintain the structure of the road and the vegetation that over the years has been growing between rails and irons. In 2006 part of it was open to the public as a park and has since been maintained by an association of friends from High Line and New York City.
These creative space shows us how cities can transform and revitalize industrial areas without the need to destroy them. This tour is a different way of seeing and feeling New York, even in winter.
