Um lugar que não pode deixar de ser visitado em Boston é o museu Isabela Gardner. Lugar lindo e idealizado por uma mulher considerada em sua época excêntrica, porque não seguia os padrões sociais estipulados para as mulheres no final do século XIX e início do XX.
De certo modo, após a morte de seu filho, ela se dedicou às artes e construiu um espaço para abrigar sua coleção de pinturas (Rembrandt, Botticelli, Vermeer, Raphael...), esculturas, manuscritos, desenhos, cerâmicas, tapeçarias e móveis. Ela contratou um arquitetoto para construir uma mansão no estilo palácio veneziano no bairro Fenway-Kenmoree e em 1903 inaugurou o Isabela Stewart Gardner Museum. Essa foi sua residência até sua morte em 1924, com 84 anos.
O que mais me impressionou foi a força dessa mulher e sua visão de futuro. É claro que ela ocupou esse espaço na história conservadora de Boston porque tinha muito dinheiro. Mesmo assim deixou para a sociedade, todas e todos que tenham interesse, uma grande coleção de obras de arte.

One place that can not be missed in Boston is the Isabela Gardner Museum. Beautiful place idealized by a woman considered eccentric in her age, because her unconventional behaviors, she did not follow the social standards stipulated for women in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
In a way, after the death of her son, she devoted herself to the arts and built a space to house her collection of paintings (Rembrandt, Botticelli, Vermeer, Raphael...), sculptures, manuscripts, drawings, ceramics, tapestries and furniture. She hired an architect to built a Venetian palace style mansion in the Fenway-Kenmoree neighborhood and in 1903 inaugurated the Isabela Stewart Gardner Museum. This was her residence until her death in 1924, at the age of 84.
What struck me most was the strength of this woman and her vision of the future. Of course, she occupied that space in Boston's conservative history because she had a lot of money. Even so, she left to society, everyone with interest, a large collection of works of art.
