Sábado ensolarado e muuuito frio, a temperatura estava pela manhã - 8° Celsius. Tinha planejado passear pela cidade, caminhar pelas ruas, mas esse frio acabou me desestimulando. Por volta das 12 horas, não aguentei e resolvi sair! Não tinha ideia do que fazer, simplesmente peguei o metro e fui em direção ao centro. Acabei parando na estação Harvard, decidi caminhar por lá para conhecer uma das mais famosas universidades da cidade, mas o vento estava impiedoso.
Em uma das esquinas encontrei uma das lojas de bolos/confeitarias mais conhecidas de Boston - a Mike's Pastry. E para minha surpresa sem fila alguma! Digo isso porque é comum ficar mais de 20 a 30 minutos esperando para ser atendida. A Mike's Pastry foi fundada em 1946 por um italiano e hoje é gerenciada pelo seu enteado. Vende uma diversidade de doces, mas os mais conhecidos são o cannoli e o lobster tail! É comum ver pessoas carregando as caixinhas azuis pelas ruas, levando para casa ou para o trabalho.
Como estamos na época do Natal que é cheio de tradições resolvi cumprir um dos slogans deles - "going to Mike's has become a Boston tradition when in town...". Entrei para provar um cannoli e tomar um café para me esquentar. São muitos sabores e acabei pegando dois - Florentine e Espresso, ambos gostosos, mas o Espresso com o café estava muito bom!

I ended up stopping at the Harvard station and decided to walk there to meet one of the most famous universities in the city, but the wind was merciless.
In a block I found one of Boston's best-known cake / confectionery stores - Mike's Pastry. And to my surprise no row at all! I say this because it is common to stay longer than 20 to 30 minutes waiting to be served. Mike's Pastry was founded in 1946 by an Italian man and today is managed by his stepson. It sells a variety of sweets, but the best known are the cannoli and the lobster tail! It is common to see people carrying blue boxes through the streets, leading them home or to work.
As we are at Christmas time that is full of traditions I decided to fulfill one of their slogans - "going to Mike's has become a Boston tradition when in town ...". I went in to taste a cannoli and have coffee to warm me. There are many flavors and I ended up getting two - Florentine and Espresso, both delicious, but the Espresso with the coffee was very good!
