Ao sair de casa hoje me deparei com
várias casas enfeitadas para o Natal. Uma das decorações que para mim marca o
início desse período é a guirlanda. Lembro que aos domingos passeávamos
de carro com os meus pais e uma das brincadeiras que fazíamos era contar quem
conseguia ver mais guirlandas nas portas das casas.
A origem desses adornos nos remete às festas
pagãs no solstício do inverno no hemisfério norte. Era uma forma de proteção
para as casas, pois os azevinhos, heras e pinheiros, plantas da região
consideradas sagradas, afugentavam demônios e a má sorte trazida pelo inverno.
As
guirlandas são cheias de significados – o círculo pode ser interpretado como a
perfeição, a harmonia, o ciclo do tempo, do ano. Os ramos verdes trazem
esperança e anunciam vida nova, recomeço. Independente dos significados para
mim a guirlanda representa a infância.-x-x-x-x-x-
When I left home today I saw several houses decorated for Christmas. One of the decorations that marks the beginning of this period is the Christmas garland. I remember that on Sundays we used to ride with my parents and one of the games we did was to count how many garlands each one saw on the doors of the houses.
The origin of these adornments reminds us of pagan feasts on the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere. It was a form of protection for the houses, because the hollywoods, heras and pines, plants of the region considered sacred, drove demons and the bad luck brought by the winter.
Garlands are full of meanings - the circle can be interpreted as perfection, harmony, the cycle of time, of the year. The green branches bring hope and announce new life, fresh start. Regardless of the meanings for me the garland represents childhood and plays.
